Blackburn Yarn Dyers is a business founded over one hundred years ago in 1915, providing yarn dying to the global textile industry, from the heart of the Industrial North.
Three Bears Yarn was founded by Anthony Green in 2015, a seasoned yarn dyer who started his career with Blackburn Yarn Dyers at the tender age of 17 as a colour weigher. Anthony quickly fell in love with the business and with the local textile industry.
At the age of 34, Anthony became the Managing Director, his passion for British Textiles, vision and ethics are the driving force behind the business. Anthony has successfully embodied the integrity, values and ethics of Blackburn Yarn Dyers into the Three bears Yarn Brand. The name itself came from Anthony’s Wife and two Children – being his ‘Three Bears’.
“In creating Three Bears Yarn, we have given birth to our own contemporary brand, which we proudly produce in Blackburn, the heart of Lancashire Textiles.”
– Anthony Green, Managing Director

Three Bears has a serious responsibility to the environment. See how we’re tackling this challenge in a responsible way.
All factory waste water is treated through an on-site Effluent Tank Treatment System which remove dyes and other chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
We are REACH compliant, it’s been described as some of the most complex EU laws ever written, it’s over 849 pages took seven years to pass… very stringent!
We voluntarily adhere to and meet the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) requirements. Created by ZDHC, a foundation committed to a complete zero discharge of hazardous chemicals across the textiles industry.
Water Conservation and Sustainability
Any water the factory uses during manufacture, is taken from an underground aquifer which is accessed through a bore hole and stored in a holding tank adjacent to our factory.
Providing us with a sustainable, energy saving and more environmentally friendly water supply.
Portions of our electricity supply is generated through solar panels, which emit no harmful emissions during operation, we’ve installed them across the roof of our factory.
